[ TLDR AT THE BOTTOM ]
Uh, hi! I'm back.
2024 has been a hard year for me so far. My mental health has reached new lows, and the universe just keeps throwing more and more at me. (If not for me getting into Blue Archive, I wouldn't be here right now.) By February, it was clear to me that the SpinShare Discord server was majorly contributing to my declining mental health, so I stepped away for my own sake. In the meantime, I've still popped in on occasion to keep up with current events and to look for spin-plays, but even then I found myself coming across arguments, negativity, and rudeness in the conversations I scrolled by.
Back in January, I fell down the song-mashups rabbit hole on YouTube, and for a little while, they were the main thing keeping me sane. They're all about making people laugh, having fun, and just taking a few minutes to enjoy something silly. "OwO Mode", from January 10th, was the first one I charted. I had just listened to Cosmic Latte's "Songs in the Color of the Universe" and all I could picture was how much fun it would be to chart it and see people's reactions.
Soon, I found myself listening to LibraH's "Rose Tinted Glasses" album on repeat. I started to consider charting some or all of it, but I was burnt out and depressed at the time so I knew it'd take a little while before I had the motivation to open the game again. From there, I ended up finding more and more other mashes and albums, and I just started bookmarking them in my browser.
Mid-February, I decided: I would chart a handful of mashups, just for fun, and release them altogether at some point in the future. Further, I knew the 4-year anniversary of my buying Spin Rhythm XD was coming up on May 1st, 2024. Plus, having charted a half-dozen or so mashup memes in the past, they were always some of the more memorable charts I had made. It felt fitting for this to be my 4-year anniversary project.
Originally I planned for this project to be only 20 charts, and that was my stretch goal. Doing that many full charts under a single theme in such a short time period was something I had never done before. My multiple mix charts–the only fair comparison to this–were much shorter, and usually featured a number of sampled sections from charts I had already completed. However, by the end of March, I had already hit that 20-chart goal, and still had some mostly-done WIPs that I didn't want to waste.
I ended up sitting at 21 completed charts for a bit, and with April Fools' Day approaching, I figured I might as well release something for that. Naturally, I picked the most chaotic, confusing, and painful chart of the bunch: "Cosfusion: Symphony of Distraction II", yet another Cosmic Latte meme mashup. I figured this would just seem like a sequel to "OwO Mode", rather than potentially giving away the theme of my project, so that was another bonus.
While I sat on the finished project, Extrenor and TCMusic joined the list of artists I began to actively seek out other works from. I did already have a few charts from them both in the project, but their focus on electronic music in mashups felt like something the project needed more of. And so, in mid-April, with about 2 or 3 weeks left until May 1st, I expanded the project to a goal of 30 charts. While I could have added dozens to the project, this was not realistic. I had to keep things reasonable. Maybe in the future, if people express interest, I'll go back to chart some more mashups from these albums and EPs.
Another goal I had for this project that I knew I had to give up on was charting the entirety of "the el horso project". That much work for a single chart was just... not reasonable for such an already large project. Thankfully, I was still able to pay homage to that legendary EP with a chart of "The Weeznd (Extrenor Re-mash)", located at track 9 just as it is on the original EP. If any charters want to help me out in actually making this happen, I'd love to have the help, be it for a single track or throughout.
The "Confusion" series by Ph0ton was yet another project I would have loved to represent here, but I couldn't justify the difficulty in charting any of them after the struggle that was Cosmic Latte's "Cosfusion".
My overall goal for this project was to chart something that was about forgetting the world for a bit and just having fun. There may be some mistakes in the charts of this project, due to not being able to get every single one tested, but that's alright. It's not about perfection, it's about fun. If you're gonna nitpick the charting or tempomaps or patterns, this project is not for you.
I want to say thanks to Animanic, metalman, swago, Way, Airplane Man, Gavi, and Luna for each helping with this project in some way.
Ani in particular has heard me talk about this project A LOT, and I thank them a ton for putting up with me. Ani and metal were both used as focus-testing, of sorts, for the project. I asked Ani to playtest a lot of these charts, and metal recorded some fantastic and hilarious reactions to the two Cosmic Latte charts I had put out previously.
The collab chart with swago was a very last-minute addition, so huge shoutout to them for getting it done quickly as well. I also want to thank both Way and Airplane Man for letting me sample sections of their charting for two of the charts in this project.
Gavi and Luna both heard about this project to some degree while I worked on it, and they were a big help in keeping this project and its theming secret for the 3 months I worked on it.
Special shoutout to LibraH in particular for providing me with the audio files to their tracks!
If anyone wants to stream their live playthrough of any or all of the tracks to Twitch (or YouTube, or wherever), please do! I'd love to watch them either live or as VODs later. I recommend playing the charts in the tracklist order down below, and turning the preview audio off until you've played them. Some previews contain spoilers for the mashes, so it's up to you if you want to blind-react or not.
Also, fair warning—SOME SONGS ARE NOT PG, so keep that in mind. The tracklist has these ones marked as such, for convenience.
Regardless, I hope you enjoy this project.
With love,
Eny

I'm back, and I charted a bunch of mashup music. There are some mistakes, but that's fine. I encourage playing on stream or recording, as I'd like to see reactions. Keep audio preview off, and play tracks in order. Not all are PG, be aware. Have fun!
