In many ways, the work of a critic is easy. We risk very little, yet enjoy a position over those who offer up their work and their selves to our judgment. We thrive on negative criticism, which is fun to write and to read. But the bitter truth we critics must face, is that in the grand scheme of things, the average piece of junk is probably more meaningful than our criticism designating it so. But there are times when a critic truly risks something, and that is in the discovery and defense of the new. The world is often unkind to new talent, new creations. The new needs friends. Last night, I experienced something new: an extraordinary chart from a singularly unexpected source. To say that both the chart and its charter have challenged my preconceptions about fine charting is a gross understatement. They have rocked me to my core. In the past, I have made no secret of my disdain for Daverwob’s famous motto, "Anyone can chart." But I realize, only now do I truly understand what he meant. Not everyone can become a great artist; but a great artist can come from anywhere. It is difficult to imagine more humble origins than those of the genius now charting at Hot This Month, who is, in this critic's opinion, nothing less than the finest charter in SpinShare. I will be returning to Hot soon, hungry for more.

Yuri on Ice ‐ Tarou Umebayashi
Maybe the best "first chart" I've ever seen. We will watch your career with great interest.
Waxamole ‐ Opiuo
Playing through every tournament chart in order of difficulty, and this is one of, if not the most fun chart I've played so far
Heart of the City ‐ Garoad
Tree recommended correctly
Rendezvous ‐ Scandroid
I thought I'd be the only person to ever chart Scandroid for this game, and yet I somehow didn't even manage to make it two weeks before a better Scandroid chart showed up, smh
Whoa I'm In Space Cuba ‐ Jake Kaufman
Space Cuba has become my skill challenge chart for trying to break into XD+! Finally more than halfway through in one try!
Immortal Flame ‐ Panda Eyes & Teminite
First drop is a bit spin-heavy, but good chart. As far as chart composition goes, gives me Colorblind vibes, which is fine because Colorblind is fun as hecc
Cut the Kid ‐ Madeon
Excellent chart, a lot of input switches that make you think while still being fluid. A challenge for most XD players without relying on note density or click spam; the epitome of tough but fair.
Crab Rave ‐ Noisestorm
The May 01 release was good by May standards. The July 16 edit is good by July standards. Not sure how well this review will look in October, but ping me if the October edit isn't good by October standards
Mirai Sekai Pt.1 - Neo-Seoul ‐ Varien & 7 Minutes Dead
The whole EP chart is a bit long for me, so I'm taking this one bit-by-bit. Has good flow and is intuitive to play on a first pass without being too easy. Great chart.
Final Boss ‐ Nitro Fun
You can tell that this chart is an "April chart" because of a lot of the eccentricities about it that just ... Don't flow well. A lot of 1-5-1 patterns where the 5 is a tap note, backwards spins, patterns with a LOT of drift, et cetera. The worst part of it is, most of these phrases can be totally fixed with a single change, in many cases with a change to a single note... But without an update, this chart's starting to show its age.
The Weekend ‐ Michael Gray
I feel like Way's going to earn a reputation for the meme-level difficult charts, but his easyXD groove and funk charts are easily my favorite. Chart fits the tone of the music well - the hold patterns themselves are groovy, and beat emphasis makes it feel dance-y as a chart. Well done
Astronomia ‐ Vicetone & Tony Igy
Might actually be my favorite chart on Spinshare right now! Manages to be fun while still being a downtempo dance chart. Hard enough to challenge most people familiar with base game difficulty, while still being an attainable FC for base game players on the grind. Great chart
Move Your Feet ‐ Junior Senior
This chart hits the difficulty sweet-spot for people looking for XD customs but aren't quite ready to reach outside the scope of base game difficulty. Funky tune, good rhythm portions between choruses, if a bit tricky on the first read. Most importantly, it's enjoyable to both play and listen to. Good chart
